In session 12A we are going to move into the space of making manifest the work that aligns with right livelihood. We shall look briefly at how work has been defined and played out historically, for that is where we must begin to shift perspective, then belief, then take new action outside of that work and a truly oppressive system that has ensnared most of humanity for lifetimes. Then we shall explore what a life on purpose might look like. We shall finally explore the actual claiming and living in right livelihood, noting some characteristics. Then we shall paint a picture of possibility, seeing the panorama of fulfillment for the first time…giving us something to intend and then look for as we move forth in joyful action.

This session began with questions. Let’s add some more…for this is a vehicle that invites reflection and, hopefully, analysis, to then activate new movement and eventually, new form. Take some time to reflect on these as we begin entrance into the four session activities.

  1. How did work play out in your early years? Who did what? How were they when they came and went to and from work?
  2. What lessons did you learn from watching those who went to “work”?
  3. Reflect on your work life and all its permutations. Did you know what you wanted to do/be when you grew up? Did you get it? How did that turn out for you? Satisfied? Well taken care of?
  4. Reflect on your history of jobs. Was there a logical sequence or was it just what was available?
  5. What made you leave a job?
  6. What were your major interest areas that you felt a fire for? What were/are your skills?
  7. Given your work history do you see a connection between all the jobs leading to the one you currently have? Reflect on that.
  8. What did you enjoy about work?
  9. What did you not enjoy about work?
  10. Reflect on some challenging work experiences. What made them challenging?
  11. Reflect on some smooth work experiences. What made them smooth?
  12. What role has money played in your work life?
  13. Do you think that there is more to work than money?
  14. Describe the perfect job for you? Could you create that job if you started right now?
  15. What other kinds of work do you do?
  16. Is self fulfillment important to you?
  17. Right now, what advice would you give a high school graduate about work?
  18. Make a list of “good work habits”.
  19. Make a list of “poor work habits”.
  20. What is your perspective/experience on retirement?
  21. Talk about workplaces you have known.
  22. When you hear “finding your life’s purpose” what do you think/feel?
  23. Reflect on the idea of finding a balance of work in your life.
  24. Reflect on your experiences as or with a boss.

Wow, that’s a lot of reflection. In a sense you have opened a door to a historical experiential perspective. Your history defines, in many ways, how you see work. In the session actions we shall go a digging…to find the treasures that await you.

A Fulfilling Working
Life

I thought that this title/session was going to be about work and money and purpose…but it turns out that it is about life…the Big Life. It is almost that once you get your life “together”, then that life rewards you with a deep ranging fulfillment that quite literally keeps feeding itself in perpetuity. I just love the Cosmic design as it is so interwoven and rewarding for any movement to reclaim higher frequency self. We are truly blessed…

There is an irony in that in order to reach a state of clarity and flow and engage the “work” they are intending/aligned with they must do the “work” to reach the open state of awareness, receptivity, trust, faith, and a willingness to launch into action. Too often, in civilized human culture one is tethered to the work routine to make a living, usually doing something that is far from their preference or the thing that motivates, excites, and inspires  them into the arms of fulfillment.

And thus, far too many, simply go through the motions of life, even losing sight of the something better that in the early days pulled and pushed them onward enough to convince them to put the leg out of the bed in the morning to get to it. Many are tired and have lost vision and really aren’t interested in the idea of purpose…for purpose has simply become getting by and taking care of one’s obligations. And so, we live…for now. But does it have to continue to be this slugging through the mud daily grind…where everybody’s working for the weekend…no, it doesn’t.
