I was out in the Washington Wilderness over the weekend and had opportunity to view the vast, uninterrupted night sky. Needless to say, it was stunning. In Cambria, California where I live, there are no neighborhood street lights, so when I get out of the car at night I am greeted by the beloved Milky Way…but the view is somewhat restricted by the trees. The open field gifted me with an absolute wash of stars. I could see why it was named the Milky Way. I have been researching in a book titled, Secrets of Your Cells: Discovering Your Body’s Inner Intelligence, by Sondra Barrett. PhD, and it refers to the 100 trillion cells in our own human body. It is easy to look at the flood of stars and see our own makeup in play.
I am almost speechless as I explore the nature and activity of these cells, defined by Sondra as, a place where life is captured and vital ingredients/energy are stored and protected. To even touch upon what is going on within you and I without any awareness whatsoever is to breathe in the breathtaking Divinity of our design. To become conscious of it and go deeper is to realize that we have not even tasted what we are and can be in our moments of living. There is so much to share that I would recommend you getting the book to drink in the details.
The bottom line is that the cells are where we truly live from. Their design is masterful as they are self replicating and very specific in their task and design. They communicate instantly with one another and follow a seeming Divine message to assemble and unify as one to serve the needs of our living moments. As our living sanctuary they respond impeccably to our thoughts and intentions…and here is where it gets really interesting.
As we learn to self nurture and send clear thinking and high frequency messages founded on clear truth beliefs, we shall see how we can profoundly impact our overall health and the actual forms of our moments. Sure, I can dazzle you with the scientific facts of the cellular design and how there is unparalleled specialization that is replicated over and over by unified groups of cells destined for one purpose within us. Or I could take you into the complex marvel of the immune system and see how we are designed for constant health and extended life when we consciously support our cellular kingdom with thought, intention, belief, and action. And I could explore how cells rely on one another to thrive, actually programming themselves for death when they are isolated or energetically ignored, pointing to the current human celestial directive to come together…right now and reclaim the Oneness that is the foundation of the design as well as the All That Is. We could get into the sacredness of the cells in their connection with the spark of life and how they manifest the energy needed to live in the now from the invisible Source, millions of times per minute. Then there are the specific markers cells carry to identify one another, knowing instantly if that which is before it is friend or foe, activating to embrace or destroy without hesitation and with remarkable felicity and consistency, indicating an unwavering trust in the design…something humans are just beginning to wake up to.
No, I would rather fill this section with activities to develop cellular communication and open up the conscious conduits that can literally change your life in a flash.
Activity One: Cell Prayer: Your Cell Self
This is an easy exercise to discover your sense of boundaries and go further in your experience of “cell-ness.” Read the following instructions and then allow yourself to engage in the suggestions offered.
Sit quietly, close your eyes, and breathe naturally. Now breathe into the place that feels like your center, reaching deep inside yourself with each inhale. Next, take your attention to your outermost boundaries, your outer edges. Where are they? Are they at the edge of your skin? Do they go beyond your physical edges? Notice the appearance of that boundary; is it solid, ragged, broken, or tattered? Now imagine that you are inside this cellular universe, a center core protected by whole, intact boundaries that are receptive to all that is good for you. If you like, you may even chant or hum out loud to connect all parts of your cell self. Voicing a sound with each exhale for a few minutes helps your cells resonate together. The sound “mmm” is particularly strong, and you will learn more about humming your cells in the next chapter.
Finally, take a moment or two to tune in and offer gratitude to this divine design that is you.

Activity Two: Sanctuary
Create an altar, a sacred place within your house that you visit on a daily basis. Use it to celebrate your remarkable design. Place objects on it that reflect your uniqueness, that celebrate your talents, that remind you of the creation that you are. This daily attention attending your sacredness will help establish a deeper, honoring relationship with self and cells.
Activity Three: The Sound of Self
Set aside about five to ten minutes in a place where you feel safe and will be undisturbed. Sit in a relaxed position. Close your eyes and imagine or picture the sound “mmm.” You can simply imagine the letter m or pretend that you are hearing the sound. Another option is to make the sound silently. Do this part for a few minutes. Now you can move on to the next step and practice aloud with sound. Take a deep breath, inhaling through your nose. Your mouth is closed. Exhale, letting the breath out through your nose while humming “mmm.” Allow the humming “mmm” to last as long as your outbreath will permit. Now take another deep breath in, and once more sound “mmm.” Feel the sound vibrate your bones and tissues. Where do you feel the sound first? Repeat at least nine times to begin to feel the benefits. Experiment with using high and low tones, loud and soft. Do you feel the sound in different places when your tone is low and when it is high? Feel the difference when you have your teeth touching as you hum. Build your practice over the next few days until you are sounding “mmm” for at least five minutes. Be silent for a while after each session. Notice how you feel. You will find that five to twenty minutes of this changes your day. Keep a journal of your experience. Do you notice any physical changes, any new awareness or sensitivities? What about your sense of self, your boundaries? The great teachers tell us that it takes at least twenty-one days to change a pattern. My suggestion is to begin the humming practice three days in a row, working up to twenty-one.

Humming vibrates the body from inside the cells through flesh and bone, the strings of our cells, and into the mind. It attunes us, helping most of our cells to resonate together.
Activity Four: Telling the Truth
You do not have to be suffering from a major trauma or illness to discover how this simple strategy might benefit you. Take fifteen to twenty minutes each day to write your thoughts and feelings about what is presently bothering you: your biggest stressor or hidden shame. Commit to writing for four consecutive days— no more or less. Don’t write the facts about the story; rather, express your emotions about them. It’s not necessary to reread what you have written or show it to anyone. You can tear it up or burn it if you like. This is an exercise for you and your cells, an invitation to release and let go.
There is a profound lesson within the dynamics at work in our inner sanctuary: our cells know the truth. Our physiology responds to what we’re thinking, including what we don’t want people to know.We can hide something from friends and family, our neighbors, and coworkers. We cannot hide from our cells. They are listening to all the conversations in our head, every word we whisper to ourselves. And because of this, when we release the stories and feelings that torment us, our cells respond with great relief. They become havens of safety once again.

Activity Five: Hugging and Body Contact
Hugging and body contact release the bonding and calming molecule, oxytocin, into the cells. Kinship, connection, and physical touch are stress reducers as they activate the release as well.
I believe I will initiate an ongoing sub topic about cellular care as it is that important. The cells listen and receive our inner messages. Gratitude and reverence sent regularly will have a profound impact on how your body serves you. Pay attention to the words you say to yourself and others. Reach out and connect with heart felt kindness, respect, and compassion. Our cells are listening…
The blueprints, detailed instructions, and job orders for building you from scratch would fill about 1000 encyclopedia volumes if written in English. Yet every cell in your body has a set of these encyclopedias…Carl Sagan
