When we ask for help we have to be ready and willing to receive. To expand one’s receptivity is an essential life skill primarily because the Universe is so generous and abundant. Humans have been condition with a phrase like “it is better to give than to receive”. They are praised for being generous and charitable. Those with resources are expected to be givers. And that is all well and good. However, we are talking about a cycle, a two part flow, where each part is essential to make the process flow. Without receptivity there is no one for the givers to give to and the cycle is interrupted.

Some have learned to be invested in giving with the expectation of receiving something back. This perspective is far from trusting the generosity of the Cosmos and actually sends out messages of lack, which will attract the very thing these kind of givers do not want. As you can see we are dealing with Universal Principles and Law here. They are reliable and can be counted on to function as stated over and over and over. So, realizing and applying this knowing insures a flow that benefits all.

As in so many of these elements, we have go overcome beliefs, patterns, and tendencies to free up the flow of the energy to change the forms that come to us. Often, also, being a receiver runs right up against one’s own sense of value and self-esteem, too often another zone of confusion and chaos. As always, awareness is the key to igniting new understandings and actions.

Ideally one is willing to ask for help and be willing to receive it when it comes. If that one is set on a particular form of assistance then they will likely miss the Celestial form of help when it comes over and over. Consider the story of the man in the flood who found himself on the roof as the water kept rising. Along comes a row boat and the man said “No thanks, God will save me!”. Then comes a speed boat, same answer. Finally a helicopter arrives and the man blurts out his faith as the water overtakes him. When he reaches Heaven he asks God why didn’t you help me. God reminds him that “I sent a rowboat, a speedboat, and a helicopter!”. The man’s investment in the form cost him. Consider that the Universe has a bigger picture than you, and because your Higher Self always delivers the best thing to help you remember your true design, you must learn to trust the moment and act upon it in good faith.

When we  receive with gratitude we send messages to keep the flow coming. Gratitude acknowledges the effort and celebrates the receptivity. Developing a sense of holy expectancy that what you need will be there in the best form is a very high order thinking and leap of trust and faith. Our charge is to not be invested in the form that comes. Simple. Frequently ask the Cosmos, “How does it get better than this?” to set the wheels of delivery on track. It invites receptivity. Say thank you to a gier, no matter what you think of the item or effort. Remember what it takes to get that for you. Simple appreciation, not explanation or rejection. This behavioral choice has lower frequency consequences that you do not want.

Finally, to insure the cycle, you must be willing to be a giver, an asker as well. When you receive, you give. The more you give the more you receive…prosperity 101.

So let’s develop those muscles by clearing and investing new perspectives to our old thinking and neuropathways.

1. Firstly, write about your experiences with receiving. How receptive have you been and are you now? What is your typical response when you receive?
2. Long before you start placing orders to the cosmos you can develop the muscles of receptivity by noticing and appreciating the everyday gifts that arrive to you unannounced. The sunrise and sunset are gifts. Do you acknowledge them as such with gratitude? How about the Earth and the sky? How about the water that comes from the faucet or the rain that falls from the clouds? How about the animal that visited you today? Did you remember to bless and appreciate your body, the last breath, your sight, your hearing, the love you feel from another, the car you drive, the food you eat, the music that was created, the colors of the world, the reliability of the daily cycles, the sun, the moon, your hands, your feet, your organs, your energy system, the stuff you have in your home, your job, the people you work with, the people you have met along the way, the mistakes you have made, the successes you have had, the sickness you have experienced, the good health you have experienced, the wisdom of those before you, the starts in the sky…I think you get the picture. Make your receptivity and gratitude one in the same and you will grease the palm of the benevolent Universe to throw open the coffers to deliver to you that which you deserve and desire.
3. Notice how you might interrupt the flow with thought, word, and action. Are you critical and judgmental? That will gum the works. Your energy is an essential element of the process. If it is resistant and sluggish then you will find little to receive. Clear that. Replace thoughts of good enough, valuable enough, and worthy enough. You are…by design. So, toss those limitations you still cling to.
4. Receptivity grows by asking/giving. Start to work that cycle into reliability for you. Remember it is not so much what you receive but that you receive in these early stages. Do not be disheartened when Ed McMahon doesn’t come to the door with that big check the first day…become a flowing giver and receiver. Give compliments, smiles, attention, eye contact, acknowledgment, time, affection…and see how quickly it returns to you. Then, you must absolutely receive it to insure the flow. Be aware and monitor your tendencies to resist. Watch for the worthiness bugs that creep in. Shoo them away and affirm your value,
